The Medical Education Unit (MEU) serves as the Regional Centre for Medical Education Technology, designated by the National Medical Commission (NMC) in December 2023. As a regional hub for faculty development in medical education, the MEU is entrusted with the responsibility of training Medical Education Unit faculty and educational leaders from 17 affiliated medical colleges.
The Unit plays a pivotal role in strengthening educational practices within the institution through the organization of Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs), peer evaluation initiatives, student evaluation of teaching, and review of postgraduate research synopses. In collaboration with the Curriculum Committee, the MEU oversees and facilitates the effective implementation of the Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) curriculum in accordance with NMC guidelines.
The MEU also coordinates a range of structured training programmes catering to learners across the educational continuum, including Undergraduate Training Programmes, Interns’ Intensive Training Programmes, Postgraduate Training Programmes, and DM/MCh Training Programmes. Through these activities, the Unit contributes significantly to capacity building, educational innovation, curriculum implementation, and quality assurance in health professions education.
